Inspired by Michelle Good’s highly anticipated novel For the People, this painting is part of the journey of her sweeping family saga, tracing three generations of Cree women bound together by story, survival, and the land itself.
It has been an incredible honour to be asked to create this painting for Michelle, and to watch her story and vision unfold on my canvas. Each day I put brush to canvas, I trusted the process and allowed the spirit of this woman, her child, and the buffalo to slowly come to life.
